Acacia flowering times in the Southern Tablelands

Author: Peter Wauchope

There has been interest from the local apiarists at local markets whether hobbyists or other as to what natives are suitable for honey production.

Whilst I don’t fall into either of those categories but a consumer each morning, I decided to seek out the largest of Australia’s genus, the Acacia.

Those below are those that are listed loosely in the Southern Tablelands; others from outside the region have not been included due to research of suitability to suit our climate.

It should be noted that the main reason was flowering times; Acacia deanei and A. penninervis appear to flower throughout the year.
